Science is integral to the balanced curriculum that Rangeville State School offers to all it's students. The goals of our science program are to produce students who:

  • have knowledge and understanding of science concepts and processes and their applications in the world

  • are keen to discover the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of the world

  • are confident in their ability to study science

  • are keen to pursue their study of science at High School and beyond.

The Australian Curriculum in Science is organised into the following three interrelated strands which are taught in an integrated way:

  1. Science Understanding.
  2. Science as a Human Endeavour.

  3. Science Inquiry Skills.

At Rangeville State School our science units encourage active investigation and participation of our students through the incorporation of 'hands-on' activities and experiments.

Our programs across the year levels aim to develop an understanding of scientific inquiry through questioning and predicting, planning and conducting experiments and investigations, collecting and analysing data, evaluating results and drawing critical, evidence-based conclusions.
